| Description |
| Diane Sollee is founder and director of the Coalition for Marriage, Family, and Couples Education, a non-denominational organization. She started the annual Smart Marriages/Happy Families Conferences and the smart marriages website in 1996. The conference consists of 200 marriage and relationship experts coming together annually in Atlanta, Georgia. Training classes in 12 different courses are available for professionals, clergy and lay educators during pre and post conference times. The conference welcomes anyone interested in marriage and family education: counselors, therapists, clergy, family life educators, lay leaders, teachers, nurses, attorneys, policy makers, community activists, journalists and the public. People attend from every state in the U.S and from around the world. The conference shares the latest ideas in the field of marriage and family education and explores practical approaches to strengthening marriage and preventing family breakdown.
The Coalition serves as an information exchange and clearinghouse to help couples locate marriage and relationship courses; to help mental health professionals, clergy, mentor couples and lay educators locate training programs and resources; to connect those with an interest in the continuing development of the field; to support community initiatives, legislation and research; and to promote the effectiveness of the courses and increase their availability in the community.
